The Lutheran West Cross Country teams for both the ladies and the gentlemen earned Runner-Up honors at the Chagrin Valley Conference Championship Meet hosted at Hawken. The runners took advantage of the perfect racing weather to attack the course and come away with 5 new personal best times. Those times and the whole team effort allowed the ladies to repeat as the CVC Runner-Up team and for both teams to have two 1st team All-Conference runners and one 2nd team All-Conference runners.
Senior Madi Kiraly (7th place), Sophomore Kellie Roach (8th place), Junior Sam Silva (3rd place) and Junior Elijah Van Farowe (9th place) all earned 1st Team All-CVC. Junior Emily Atkins (14th place) and Sophomore Tyler Vance (18th place) earned 2nd Team All-CVC.
Lifetime personal best times were earned by Elijah Van Farowe, Jonathan Barnes, John Long, Nora Gardner and Mikayla Ryan.
Coach Anjanette Whitman said, “The team rallied all season to have a great showing at the CVC Championship Meet and they succeeded. The most exciting aspect is that the gentlemen have no seniors that raced today which means the future looks bright and the ladies only brought together the full team a few weeks ago to make their 2nd place finish a reality. They all have a lot of which to be proud today.”
