The Indoor Track & Field Team opened up the 2020 season on Saturday, January 11th and brought home 3 new school records.
The throwers competed at Oberlin College. Senior Nolan Ragland set a new school record in the Weight Throw with a toss of 48’8.5″.
The Sprinters and Distance Groups competed at Youngstown State. Senior Luke Sword set a new school record in the 200m dash in 23.99 while Junior Gabe Ortiz set a record in the 6om Hurdles in 12.00.
The team overall also brought home lots of new personal records showing major progress as a result of all the hard work put into their training so far this season.
In the throws group, new personal records were set by Emma Bernardini (Shot Put 30′ 10″), Sam Webb (SP 25′ 2″ & Weight Throw 26′ 5″), Kylie Garsky (SP 24′ 1″ & WT 24′ 4.5″), Morgan Jenkins (SP 20′ 6.75″ & WT 34′ 5.25″), David Busch (SP 37′ 0″ & WT 37′ 1″), Camden Minor (SP 32′ 1″ & WT 34′ 0.25″), Owen Shultz (SP 23′ 9″) and Liam Richissin (WT 39′ 6.75″).
In the sprints and distance groups, Erin Lavelle (60m Hurdles 12.20 & 200m 29.99), Emily Atkins (60m 9.03 & 200m 30.68), Madi Kiraly (3200m 13:59.47), Kellie Roach (3200m 14:23.14), Luke Sword (60m 7.69) and Tyler Vance (3200m 13:52.58).
The team competes again on Saturday, January 18th: Throws at Youngstown State and Sprinters & Distance at Kent State.
